Enter 2010: UK Garage

Well, UK Garage came and smashed it everywhere in 2000 didn't it? Then suddenly due to "media propaganda" it completely died. The likes of So Solid "inciting" violent lyrics etc. and the UK public nor media was ready for this change in cultural attitude. The spiralling gun violence and change in our inner cities was blamed on "UK Garage" and instantly died a death - with it did the violence subcede? No it didn't - it only got worse.

10 years on and the image has been rubbed off. Music has no boundaries due to the internet and I don't think a media war could kill it to that extent again - its a new fresh and exciting time we need to embrace with all we can!

So with it i've mixed up some of the best UK Garage tunes from the past 3 years - you won't of heard them because the media was not supportive of this, even if it is good music! If you like chopped vocals, good melodies and sunshine vibes then check this out! Its one for the BBQ, the house party early on or just for the car... and your girlfriend will definitely like it!

Hope you enjoy...

L Vis 1990 - United Groove

Wow, well this is fresh!

L Vis first came to my attention with his edit of Caspa's remix of TC - Wheres My Money. His snared up raving remix was a catalyst for producers in the UK towards a new style which is still forming. Future bound so to speak.

This is sick - how else can I put it? Hyped up ragga style beats, dub funky or dubstep whatever - a fluctuating dark bassline that will tear your soul out and make it face you! Again just shut your eyes and stomp out to it..

Zinc - Killa Sound (Skream Remix)

Still loving this and have only just found it posted online.... A dubstep beat thats innovative and in Skreams realms. This is as urban as you can get. It takes me back to Bugged Out @ The Arches last year which was an epic adventure so to speak. Raw, underground and has completely flipped what was also a fantastic original by Zinc.

Major Lazer ft Afrojack - Pon di floor (Alvaro remix)

i'd go file2hd.com and bag a copy of this one! Brilliant...

DJ Zinc - Super Sharp Shooter (Jack Beats remix)

Forthcoming, hopefully on their new album they claim to have just produced.......

Jack Beats have risen massively in the past year. Ghetto Bass, Fidget House, Nu Rave.. whatever you want to call it. They have a unique capability of "tweaking the LFO's" and making it work EVERY time... top class production, very frontline in the UK and also spreading round the world with their sound. Their bass heavy style of house, crack house and almost speed-garage esque is a new blend for 2010..

check out this new remix live - as soon as its out we'll post it up

Alternative Dubstep Mix

A quick mix I did earlier, actually for my own pleasure in the car as I wanted some kind of stuff to listen to after and before a 12 hour shift

Its different from my normal fidget / rave compilations, purely dubstep but not "sick" "skankout" dubstep, just nice mellow dub.

Chase & Status - BITS

Chase & Status have come back to the underground with this crazy dubstep production. A low and high frequency filtered bass, similar to Eastern Jam in sound but completely stepped up a gear

This is the VIP mix... sadly they have stuck Rhianna over the top of the track and ruined it slightly in that direction but am certain the VIP (what you hear here) will be out at some time...

I think its both good when artists make it but also quite sad to forget what possibly put them there! Fingers crossed this will come out...

MJ Cole - Volcano Riddim

The classically trained musician famously known for his UK Garage sounds has found a new niche it would seem.. Hot on the new sounds of underground music and pushing in a future direction, 2010 is going to prove massive for Matt Coleman.

Still able to produce beautiful compositions in UK Garage (check his liberation vocal mix) he's taken the "funky" and "dubstep" sounds.......... in fact we shouldn't label it but for this blogs sake and trying to describe it we will......... and moulded his own unique flex on it.

A true club smasher, and would fit right in next to Jack Beats or Foamo...

Twisted Underground 3

Again, TLEGATO has smashed the wheels of steel here. Fastly gaining recognition on his underground circuit he has crossed boundaries here and shows that like his productions, his mixing has a truely unique style to them.

How do you reflect your own productions through your mixing without defining a "genre"? Looped, chopped but mixed completely on the go - Dubstep, Funky, Fidget, Crack House, Jump Up DrumnBass, Garage and Bassline all in one electric fashion of 42 tracks, including one of his own productions........

Foamo - Wardance

Similar in styles to Foamo's remix of Diplo & Laidback Luke - Hey! this is a brlliant club tune. Again with the "samba" style crash layered on top Foamo has taken a unique direction with this production.

Truely a club "stomper" - a bassline that in reminscent of Dillinja's "Grimey" but with the frequencies modulated in his own fashion. Also the sub bass which has had its LFO's tweaked beyond and also uniquely - its got the ghetto urban bass flow to it. Shut you eyes, feel it through your bones and rave on.

Foamo is really progressing fast right now and in the whole new direction that the UK underground is forming. Love this one and if you follow the footsteps of Doorly, Jack Beats or Afrojack i'm sure you will too...

Chase & Status - Eastern Jam (TLEGATO's Bucket and Deodrant Mix)

This has been compared to some of LVIS 1990's earlier cuts!

Basically its a ghetto bass rerub of Eastern Jam - but in a unique style that underground newcomer TLEGATO is bringing. It doesn't fit into a formula or follow a set "clause". This as he puts is "is for the ravers". Self proclaiming "i'm not changing it for anyone" - its brought Fabric to its knee's and has quickly gained recognition from MJ Cole and others in the new "future" moving scenes of UK Underground.

Promising material and a free download - enjoy!
